I wrote software allowing me to compose sequences of rapidly spinning rugs and quilts, forming intricate kaleidoscopic animations. The work's visual effect arises from interactions between the video screen's frame rate and the rotation rate. It was originally developed for iOS as an interactive app, and is now being ported to other platforms as a non-interactive work. The original version also had a generative music element. Magic Carpet was exhibited in a large scale digital outdoor exhibition in Seoul Square in Korea, curated by Lauren Cornell. (click button to play) |
